Also referred to as the ‘Service Notes’, the information contained within this website is for Lotus vehicles produced from 2004 onwards fitted with Toyota powertrains.

The service notes are provided in a PDF format and divided into function groups of the vehicle i.e., brakes, steering, front suspension, rear suspension, chassis, body etc.  

To avoid unnecessarily repeating technical information, remarks may be displayed within the text of a specific removal and refitment procedure referring the user to another section of the service notes for further instruction where this information has already been produced for another closely associated operation.

If you require technical information to carry out a specific repair it is important to download all the relevant service notes sections that are required before your registration period has expired.     

The strip down, repair, reassembly and refitment information contained within the service notes has been produced primarily for qualified motor vehicle technicians employed by the network of Lotus Dealerships.

Therefore any minor operations, best practice procedures, correct use of tools and equipment, relevant safety information and handling of fluids and chemicals etc are presumed to be self evident and as such may not be documented.  

Therefore it is assumed that any non-Lotus technicians utilizing the same information have also completed training as a motor vehicle mechanic and will also use all best practices if performing any of the procedures documented within the service notes. 

Non – USA Vehicles:

Production* engine management and applicable ‘Pass – Thru’ software is available for all applicable 2011 model year onwards Lotus vehicles.

USA Vehicles:

Production* engine management and applicable ‘Pass – Thru’ software is available for all applicable 2005 model year onwards Lotus vehicles.

*The programs available to purchase are the latest level of the production software files installed in the vehicles ECM (Electronic Control Module) at the time of vehicle build, therefore it is important to confirm that vehicles ECM software or powertrain assembly has not been subject to any modifications or upgrades (such as authorised Motorsport enhancements or officially authorised Aftersales supercharger fitting kits) which may be overwritten if the original files are reinstated.

Caution: This may lead to non-production enhancements no longer being available or in extreme instances poor engine running or vehicle non-start.

Please use a suitable diagnostic device to confirm the vehicles current ECM software program, and compare it to the list displayed  in the tab below to ensure you are reinstating the same or ‘up-issued’ program (such as ‘A’ to ‘B’ level of the same program number).

Also available are the applicable Service Parts Lists, Labour Time Guides and any Technical Service Bulletins that are relevant to any emissions related issues.

Security alarm codes as well as ignition, door and wheel bolt key number information is supplied to the first owner at the time of vehicle purchase.

If you are the owner of a Lotus vehicle that you have owned from new but are unable to find any record of this information we would recommend that you contact the Lotus Dealer you originally purchased the vehicle from.

If you are the subsequent legal owner of a Lotus vehicle and you have no record of its security codes or key numbers then please contact your nearest or preferred Lotus Dealer with documentation proving proof of purchase, they can then contact Lotus Cars on your behalf to obtain this information.

A limited version of the Lotus 20/20 engine management diagnostic software system currently used by the authorised Lotus dealer network is available to download directly from our dedicated diagnostic system supplier. This version provides information on all Lotus vehicles built from 2007 onwards except for the Lotus 2-Eleven*.

Using a suitable laptop and pass-through device complying to SAE J2534 standard the restricted version of the Lotus 20/20 engine management diagnostic software system will:

• Display ECU Information for all vehicle systems (part numbers, emissions related data and VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) etc.
• Read and clear DTC’s (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) for all vehicle systems.
• Install an updated program file into already programmed engine management, transmission control unit and ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) control modules.

*Note: Only ABS and Airbag module information is available for the Lotus Europa.

Before purchasing this product please be aware:

• The limited version of the Lotus 20/20 engine management diagnostic software system is purchased from our dedicated supplier and as such the contract is between the purchaser and our supplier, not Lotus Cars.
• In the event difficulty is experienced downloading the software, contact the supplier directly as Lotus Cars cannot assist with technical problems concerning the software.
• The version available to purchase has reduced functionality in comparison to the version used by the authorised Lotus dealer network. Therefore, only an authorised Lotus dealership can perform certain procedures such as programming new/unprogrammed ECU’s, instrument packs and ABS modules.
• Information concerning diagnostic trouble codes is available to purchase separately as PDF documents from the vehicle service information website, Lotus Cars cannot assist directly with technical enquiries that originate outside of the authorised Lotus dealer network.
